ACROSS THE UNIVERSE

A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.

Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awake on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into a brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone—one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship—tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn’t do something soon, her parents will be next.

Now, Amy must race to unlock Godspeed’s hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there’s only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.

A MILLION SUNS

Godspeed was once fueled by lies. Now it is ruled by chaos.

It’s been three months since Amy was unplugged. The life she always knew is over. And everywhere she looks, she sees the walls of the spaceship Godspeed. But there may just be hope: Elder has assumed leadership of the ship. He’s finally free to enact his vision – no more Phydus, no more lies.

But when Elder discovers shocking news about the ship, he and Amy race to discover the truth behind life on Godspeed. They must work together to unlock a puzzle that was set in motion hundreds of years earlier, unable to fight the romance that’s growing between them and the chaos that threatens to tear them apart.

In book two of the Across the Universe trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Beth Revis mesmerizes us again with a brilliantly crafted mystery filled with action, suspense, romance, and deep philosophical questions. And this time it all builds to one mind-bending conclusion: They have to get off this ship.

SHADES OF EARTH

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They’re ready to start life afresh–to build a home–on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience. But this new Earth isn’t the paradise that Amy had been hoping for. Amy and Elder must race to uncover who–or what–else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together.

But as each new discovery brings more danger, Amy and Elder will have to look inward to the very fabric of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses?

Then everything they have sacrificed–friends, family, life on Earth–will have been meaningless

SHORT STORIES & NOVELLAS

There are several additional stories in the Across the Universe series world. The Body Electric also takes place on Earth while Amy and Elder are in space.

  • As They Slip Away, a novella about life aboard Godspeed before Amy woke up

  • "The Other Elder" currently available in the anthology After. A young Elder on Godspeed who learns just what it will mean for him to assume leadership. Locus says “The Other Elder” has “a nice subtle twist.”

  • "Love is a Choice" explores Orion’s past. It's available from the anthology Shards & Ashes or online at Wattpad.

  • “Night Swimming” tells the story of Kayleigh’s swimming adventures in the pond, after the solar lamp clicks off. It first appeared in the anthology Defy the Dark. Booklist said, “This spirited collection counts on the bewitching, tantalizing qualities of darkness—at night, down a mineshaft, or artificially manufactured in a spaceship—to set the stage for 17 original short stories by popular YA authors, including Aprilynne Pike and Beth Revis.”

“Cunningly executed thriller…a compulsively readable crowd-pleaser.”

“…a believable romance and a series of tantalizing mysteries that will hold readers’ attention.”
–Publisher’s Weekly

“Who Should Read This: Well, sci-fi and mystery fans will love it, but so will any girl or boy who’s ever sat in a room full of quiet conformists and wanted to scream at them all, ‘Wake up!’”
MTV.com

“A horrifying and deliciously claustrophobic masterpiece that’s part sci-fi, part dystopian, and entirely brilliant.”
Kiersten White, New York Times bestselling author of Paranormalcy

“A stunning debut. Beth Revis explores what a society isolated deep in space is willing to sacrifice in order to survive, and the result is both thought-provoking and chilling. Entirely original, deeply compelling, and totally unputdownable–I’ve found a new favorite!”
Carrie Ryan, New York Times bestselling author of The Forest of Hands and Teeth

“An astounding ride! Beth Revis erases genre boundaries with a murder mystery, a budding romance, and a dystopian world gracefully integrated into a sci-fi novel that blow away all expectations.”
Melissa Marr, New York Times bestselling author of Wicked Lovely

For A Million Suns

“Revis’ interweaving of science fiction, romance, and action is deft—an especially impressive feat given the condensed time line under which this story operates. …Revis just might make straight-up sci-fi cool again.”
–Booklist, December 1, 2011

“The second in Revis’ Across the Universe trilogy is as twisty as the first! You’ll feel the spaceship walls closing in as Elder and Amy race to find a way to save the day. Can’t wait for the third, to find out how it all ends.”
–Romantic Times Reviews; 4.5 Stars

“Oftentimes, the second book in a series struggles to live up to the expectations set in its kickoff, but not here. Revis has penned a fast-paced, action-packed follow-up with her dystopian, sci-fi thriller, “A Million Suns,” that explores not only the nature of authority and loyalty but fear of the unknown and fulfilling one’s personal destiny.”
LA Times, 8 January 2011

“The twist at the end is unexpected and a wonderful turn for the story to take. The cliffhanger ending ensures that readers will be waiting anxiously for the third book in the trilogy.”

“There literally isn’t one dull moment in the entire story!”

“Revis’ shining brilliance is the fierce tension about survival (is Godspeed deteriorating? can people survive terrorism inside an enclosed spaceship?) and the desperate core question of whether any generation will ever reach a planet. Setting and plot are the heart and soul of this ripping space thriller, and they’re unforgettable.”
Kirkus, starred review

“Knowing readers will trace provocative questions about the seeds of revolution, the French Revolution in particular, through to modern dilemmas of medical ethics, sound governing policy, and institutional justice, but they will also be thoroughly caught up in both Elder’s and Amy’s negotiations of self-doubt and first love.” –Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books (BCCB 1/12)

“Does Beth believe in a ‘happily ever after’? I’ll NEVER tell. … Few series end as perfectly as SHADES OF EARTH.” –Jenna at MTGReviews

“Revis totally kills it in her Across the Universe trilogy ender, taking her plot-twisting mania to entirely new levels. Readers will never know what’s coming next as Revis completely goes for broke. There are so many layers and themes here amongst the shocking twists, beware of whiplash. It’s super awesome.” –RT Times Reviews, 4 1/2 stars, Top Pick Selection

“Beth Revis is a master of twisty plots, and the fact that she kept the surprises coming all the way through her three-book trilogy is truly a feat to behold. … If you want to fly among the stars in 2013, Revis is the author for you.” –Elissa Petruzzi, RT Editor
